What is Liposuction?

Smartlipo® is a medical device designed exclusively to perform laser-assisted lipolysis, commonly referred to as laser liposuction. A very thin tube containing the Smartlipo laser fiber is inserted in targeted fatty areas through a small incision. The laser fiber delivers thermal energy directly to fat cells and disrupts the fatty tissue for easy removal. The laser literally melts the fat, which is removed with gentle suction. At the same time, tissue around the area tightens through coagulation, contributing to a smoother shape overall.

How does Smartlipo work?

Smartlipo is a minimally invasive, laser-assisted lipolysis procedure that targets trouble spots like the abdomen, arms, buttocks, thighs, and neck, and permanently eliminates fat. So if your problem areas won’t respond to exercise and diet, Smartlipo provides dramatic improvements with greater results, minimal downtime, and less pain than traditional liposuction.

What should I expect during the Smartlipo Treatment?

Smartlipo is performed under local anesthesia. You will be visiting for an in-office procedure that typically lasts 1-2 hours depending on the number of areas to be treated and the size of the areas. Because of the anesthesia, you will not feel pain, rather a sensation comparable to tugging or pressure.

What should I expect after the Smartlipo Treatment?

After the procedure you may experience some light bruising and swelling and will be required to wear a compression garment for about a week to help with the healing process and support the areas treated, however, you’ll be able to return to normal activities within a day or two.

When will I see results?

For most patients, results are achieved in just one Smartlipo treatment. Results can be seen within a week, with continued improvement over three to six months. Since fat cells are permanently destroyed in the treated area, your results will be long-lasting, however, it is important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen.
